Alaska's Wild Fjords: Glaciers, Wildlife, and Living Cultures
Journey from Vancouver to Whittier on an expedition-style voyage through the Inside Passage, the Alaskan Panhandle, and deep into Prince William Sound. Come face to face with rugged wilderness and the glaciers of Icy Bay, and the dramatic landscapes they carved. Each day brings a chance to head out by small boat or kayak while the Expedition Team scouts for the best landings and wildlife encounters. Watch for humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, sea otters, and porpoises, along with bears, moose, Sitka black-tailed deer, bald eagles, and the rare Kittlitz's murrelet. Several days are set aside purely for exploration, with time to walk, sail, and paddle through some of Alaska's most breathtaking scenery.
This is also a journey into the region's living cultures. Visit remote Indigenous communities where the Łingít, Haida, and Chugach peoples carry on long-standing traditions rooted in these lands and waters, and spend time in the authentic Alaskan communities of Klawock and Valdez. Along the way, you'll see the lasting marks left by later arrivals, including Russian and Norwegian settlers, on the region's history and character.
